粉雪 ~ Powdered Snow

She pulled her jacket closer.
Held the scarf to her face.
The chilly winter wind made its presence.

He placed his hands in his pockets.
Breathed deeply.
Looking at his breath as it condensed.

They walked in a crowd.
The sea of crashing people.
As the snow fell upon this sea,
The sky was still the same for them.

We always miss each other in the season of fluttering powdered snow
Though we're lost in the crowd, we're looking up at the same sky
And blown by the wind, we both feel the same chill

She stopped.
The light struck red.
Roaring vehicles sped by her.

He walked.
Across the zebra stripes.
Hustle and bustle of restlessness.

They stopped.
Secluded dark pathway.
Gazes met.
Weary smiles exchanged.

I'm sure I don't know everything about you
But still I found you out of a hundred million people
I have no proof, but I truly believe that

She looked at him.
He looked at her.
Their eyes saying 'sorry'.

"We can't keep this up."
"I know."
"We shouldn't be, Syusuke."

He sighed.
The mess they caused themselves and others.
Why was this forbidden?

"Syusuke."
"Hm?"
"Kill me."

She looked at him with sadness in her eyes.
Knowing that it wasn't right.
Betrayal.

"I can't do that, ."
"I'd rather you do it than one of the others."
"My mind refuses."

We can't spend time together without quarrelling over little things
If we can't be honest with each other, happiness and sadness are empty

They sat together.
The cold wall against their backs.
Winter wind against their faces.

Empty souls.
Clouded minds.
Darken hearts.

Sitting in silence.
Lightly breathing.
Loneliness unforeseen.

If the powdered snow had made our hearts white
Would we have been able to share our loneliness?

"It was like that time."
"When we first met."
"Yeah."

Diving deep into their souls.
Digging into their memories.
Painting a picture of that snowy day.

"Why can't it be like that again?"
"Because time changes, ."
"But those times were so carefree."

As the hands of time ticks,
Heart, souls, and minds grow darker.
Longing for innocence to wash them clean again.

"I want to go back again."

I want to press my ear against your heart
And descend quietly into the depths where that voice leads me
Let's meet there once again

His brown hair swayed along with the breeze.
Her gaze turned to his.
Silence.

Their minds in deep thought.
Minds and souls connected.
Hoping for only a miracle.

She leaned against his shoulder.
He supported her weight.
Hands intertwined.

I'm the one who said I wanted us to understand each other, but just brushed the surface
When just by holding your cold hand we're connected

Snow continued to fall.
The two sat still.
Grasping each other's hand firmly.

"I can't feel the snow, Syusuke."
"I guess we're not as innocent as we'd like to think we are."

Each flake hits the ground.
Slowly forming into powder,
It stains the cold floor.

"If only snow can wash our sins away."
"Many people wish for that, don't they?"

With eternity before it, the powdered snow seems too fragile
It stains the surface of the rough asphalt

Legs extend.
Bodies push.
Acceleration.

They both knew.
Time, fate, and duty to the past.
All against them.

Only quiet moments can they cherish together.
Away from the sounds of gunshots.
Not a single spec of red on their hands.

"They'll be here soon."

Powdered snow, sometimes I'm unreliable and my heart is swayed
But even so I want to keep protecting you

"He has to be around here somewhere!"
"Where is she?"

In black,
They yelled.
In pursuit of the two.

", you said you wanted snow to wash our sins clean."
"Yes, I did."
"I don't think that can ever happen."
"It's only a silly wish, Syusuke."
"It is, but snow can clean our hearts."

The snow continued to fall upon the city.
They continued to hold their smiles.
Holding each other's hand.

Their eyes closed.
They pulled the trigger.
The powdered snow washed their hearts clean.

If the powdered snow has made our hearts white
It will enfold our loneliness and return it to the sky
